Yep, it’s been a while I know. Decided to redesign my site and figured I might as well do the same with my blog. Time to get back to writing!

Great ad for Lebeau Auto Glass. Can’t repair much faster than that… I wonder if it really ran though.

Let me start by saying that I haven’t seen a great ad in a long time. That being said, I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised at the sheer wittiness and intelligence shown by this next advertisement. Simply brilliant.

One of the most powerful commercials I’ve seen in a long time. What makes it so good and unique is actually quite simple… it’s the approach. Usually, when exposed to road safety campaigns and commercials, we’re used to seeing crashes, accidents, blood and gore and deaths, lots of it too. Now, i’m not saying that all ads using that approach are bad, but if not done carefully, then all they do is make the person watching turn his head in disgust instead of getting its main message accross.

In this commercial, it’s actually… beautiful by lack of a better word. Once you look at it you’ll understand. It’s powerful, touching and simply eye-opening. A big thumbs up to the team that developped this campaign. Well done!

I created these posters a while back. You might wonder if I really believe in the message I’ve written on them… I absolutely, 100%, positively believe in the “Think big, don’t act big” one. Sometimes as a graphic designer, our egos could get out of hand. However, I must admit that I do believe in grids, just not the ones who limit your creativity. A good grid works with you, not against you. Unfortunately, some designers have created terrible grids that others have to work with, that was the inspiration for my second poster.

This post has been a few months coming. In fact, I’ve been slacking off bigtime blogwise, let’s see if I can get things back on track!

This is a fire safety campaign that I worked on last year. I’ve been meaning to put it up for a while actually, but then again, better late than never.

Faced with the challenge of developping this concept, our team realised how tired we all were of the normal approach these types of campaigns have. The whole “here let me shove a picture of a burnt persons face in front of you” had, in our opinions, overstayed its welcome and we wanted to develop a different approach. Without joking about the seriousness of fire safety, we decided we wanted to take on a more friendly and caricatural approach. We then created characters (a family) that would be put in high risk fire situations where they had gotten burned, displaying the action, or lackthereof, and result.

The point of this campaign was to get noticed, to remind people about fire safety, and heck, why not make them smile at the same time.
